Action to recover damages resulting from an automobile collision, Elizabeth Collova sought to recover damages for personal
injuries she sustained in the collision, and by a separate cause of action in the same complaint her husband, Carl Collova,
sought to recover damages for her medical expenses and for the loss of society and services of his wife. The only defendant
is the insurer of one of the cars involved in the collision. The collision occurred shortly after 10 p. m. on March 25, 1955, in Racine county. Mrs. Collova was a guest passenger in
the station wagon owned and operated by her son. Plaintiffs owned a small farm of 43 acres on which they raised grain, berries,
and vegetables. They also kept about 3,000 chickens thereon. Plaintiffs did not live on the farm. On the night of the accident
Mrs. Collova and her son had been at the farm working and they were returning to the Collova home in Racine. The car was not
working well and it was driven off the paved portion of the highway opposite the driveway of a friend. It was the intention
of the son to make a left-hand turn when traffic cleared and proceed into that driveway. While they were so stopped a vehicle
owned by one Lamb and driven by one Steege ran into the rear of the station wagon. The seat in which Mrs. Collova was riding
broke off and she was thrown into the back of the station wagon. The sheriff's department was notified of the accident and
officers arrived at the scene with a squad car and an ambulance. They got Mrs. Collova out of the station wagon and took her
to her home in the squad car. Her knees were cut and bleeding, and she received bruises and contusions.
